From the People Who Brought Their Watches In
Somchai Phromma

"Brought in my grandfather's Seiko that had not been running for years. The written report they gave me explained clearly what was worn and what was still fine — I found that reassuring before agreeing to the work. It came back running within 4 seconds per day. The written record is something I will keep with the watch."
Self-Winding Service · June 2025
Andrew Walsh
Expat, Bangkok
"I wanted a diagnostic check before deciding whether a full service was worth the cost. The watchmaker took the time to show me the timing data from the initial test and explain what it meant. In the end I went ahead with the Self-Winding Service and the difference in accuracy was quite visible in the numbers. Clear pricing, no surprises."

"The Complete Restoration on my 1968 Swiss piece took four weeks but the result was worth the wait. They called me partway through to let me know a mainspring was weaker than expected and asked how I wanted to proceed — I appreciated being consulted rather than just handed a higher bill. The care schedule they prepared is a thoughtful touch."
Complete Restoration · April 2025
Pattara Klahan

"I started with the diagnostic check just to understand the condition of a watch I had bought secondhand. The report was useful and written in language I could understand. The watchmaker did not pressure me into anything, which was a relief. I came back a month later for the Self-Winding Service once I had decided to keep the watch."
Cleaning & Diagnostic · June 2025
Marcus Heaton
UK, visiting Bangkok
"Had a short window in Bangkok and needed a diagnostic check on a watch showing intermittent stopping. The team turned it around in three days, which was faster than expected. The written findings gave me something to bring to my watchmaker back home. Professional and calm atmosphere — nothing rushed."

"My husband's watch had been sitting in a drawer for six years. The Self-Winding Service brought it back to life. I was a bit worried about the cost but the pricing was exactly as stated on the website — ฿16,500 and nothing added. They even returned the old gasket in a small envelope. That kind of detail matters."

A Closer Look at Three Watches
Each watch arrives with its own history. Here are three representative jobs and what the process involved.
1970s Japanese Automatic, Inherited
The watch had not been serviced since the 1990s. It would run for a few hours then stop. The owner was unsure whether restoration was sensible given the watch's age.
Started with a Cleaning & Diagnostic Check. The report identified dried lubricants throughout and a worn click spring. The owner chose to proceed with the Self-Winding Service. All components cleaned ultrasonically, new lubricants applied, worn spring replaced and original kept.
Pre-service timing: +28 sec/day. Post-service: +5 sec/day. The watch now runs as a daily wearer. Total time: 8 working days.
"I was not expecting that kind of improvement. The numbers made it real."
Swiss Dress Watch, 1955
A collector acquired this piece at a market in Chiang Mai. The dial was original but the movement had been tampered with by a previous repair — incorrect parts had been fitted.
Complete Restoration. The movement was mapped during assessment and three incorrect components identified. Correct period-appropriate parts were sourced over two weeks. Full overhaul, case refinishing, new crown seal. A provenance note was added to the service record.
Returned at +3 sec/day across five measured positions. Total time: 5 weeks. Care schedule prepared for a 4-year service interval.
"The written record is more detailed than I expected. It makes the watch more knowable."
Daily-Wear Automatic, Accuracy Drift
A watch used every day for four years had started losing around 20 seconds daily. The owner was uncertain whether this was normal wear or something more serious.
Diagnostic check first to establish baseline. Timing data showed moderate deviation consistent with lubricant breakdown at 4+ years of use — within normal parameters. Self-Winding Service recommended and carried out. No parts required.
Pre: -19 sec/day. Post: -2 sec/day. Returned in 7 working days. Next service interval noted as 3–4 years on written record.
"Straightforward process. The diagnostic step was a good way to decide whether the service was worth it."
